Adding Wishes
There are 2 primary ways to add wishes to your WishList.
- Shop on WishList.com and click on the “add to WishList” button. We have over 100 millions products.
- Shop on any other website. First, get the “+WishList.com” button for your browser or the +WishList.com app for your smartphone. Then, visit any website with the item you like and click the +WishList button to add that item to your wish list at WishList.com.
Download the +WishList.com app to add items to your WishList on your phone.
Yes! Install the +WishList button on your browser or install the +WishList.com app on your phone.
Once you have added this button to your browser, you will be able to add any item to your WishList by clicking the blue bubble icon located next to the search bar.
While in your WishList, click on ‘+New Wish’. Scroll to the bottom of the page and follow the instructions for ‘Manually save items from any website’: Click on ‘Describe wish’ and add your own picture & description.
Making a WishList
Click ‘Sign Up’ at the top of the page and create a WishList account.
Then start finding items you want to add to your WishList by shopping on WishList.com or any of your favorite websites.
To add items to your WishList from other websites, get the “+WishList.com” button for your browser or the +WishList.com app for your smartphone.
Go to your profile and look for the ‘Share’ button below your profile picture. You will now have the option to invite friends and family to view your WishList via text, email, or social media!
Yes! You can have as many WishLists as you want. Every WishList you make can be unique.
Go to your profile and click the ‘+ New WishList’ button.
When you create a new WishList you have 2 choices:
- ‘Gifts I hope to receive’ -Gifts you want that friends can reserve and buy for you. There will be “Reserve & Buy” buttons for gifters to purchase a wish off your list.
- ‘What I’m into’ – items you want to save to your WishList, but not receive as a gift. It could be anything, like items you like and want to recommend to others. There won’t be any “Reserve & Buy” buttons.
Yes! When creating a new WishList you are able to name, select a photo and a background image for each WishList you make. You can even include links to your social media.
Click on the wish you would like to delete. Click ‘Edit Wish’ (top right) and then ‘Delete Wish’. Note: You must be logged in to your account to delete a WishList.

Go to the WishList you want to delete, click the Edit button, then select Delete WishList.

Yes! When you create (or edit) your wishlist just select Private for ‘Who can see this WishList?’ Visitors to your profile will not be able to see a private WishList.
When you create (or edit) your WishList you have 4 options to choose from:
- Public – anyone can see your wishlist
- Friends – only your friends can see it (once you accept their friend request)
- With Link – only people whom you send the link to your WishList will be able to view it. It will not show up in your list of WishLists without the link
- Private – only you can see this WishList (no one else)
You can determine who can see your WishList for every WishList that you create.
On the top of the page click on ‘Find Someone’. Type their first and last name OR email address and click on the magnifying glass to search.
Yes! View your WishList and select the Edit button under its name. Select “Accept Contributions” and follow the instructions. You can receive contributions using Paypal.com, a very popular way to send and receive money by email.
People making a contribution won’t be able to see your email address.
You’ll be able to see and edit the contributions people make under your WishList. You’ll also be able to see contributions made under your Paypal.com account.
Double check the following:
- You’re looking for contributions under the right Paypal account, using the the right email address.
- Make sure you connected your WishList to the right Paypal account, using the right email address.
- Keep in mind Paypal doesn’t notify WishList.com when a contribution has been made. This is for security reasons. So, when someone makes a contribution to your WishList, we ask them “Did you complete your contribution?” when they return from Paypal.com. Sometimes people click “Yes”, even though they didn’t successfully complete the payment over Paypal. This is confusing, we know. But we understand why Paypal keeps their service as secure as possible.
If you see that someone confirmed a contribution towards your WishList that you didn’t actually receive, you can edit that confirmation. Or, you can contact the donor if they provided their email address with the contribution.
We’re working on supporting multiple people editing and adding to a WishList!
In the meantime, you can share your login to let others edit your WishList. WishList.com doesn’t store any sensitive information, like credit cards. You can easily change your password if necessary.
Profile
Click your ‘Account’ button (top right) and then scroll down to ‘My Account’. You will see your account settings. Click ‘edit’ email. Note: you must be logged in to your account.

To add/edit your profile picture, first go to your profile page. Click the pencil icon in the profile picture circle, then click on ‘Edit Profile Page’, then click ‘Select Image’. Upload your own image.
Yes! Go to your profile page, select the ‘Header’ button then ‘Select image’. You can upload a new image or click on ‘More Images’ to go to our image library to choose from 1000’s of images.
Absolutely! You can create profiles for friends, family members, or your favorite cause.
Make sure you are logged in to your account. Go to your profile picture and click on the pencil icon, then click on ‘Edit Profile Page’, and select ‘New Profile’.
Yes! Go to your friend’s profile page. Click ‘+Add’ under their name, and select ‘Follow’ or ‘Friend request’.
Following a user means you will be notified when that person adds new items to their wishlist.
Similar to Facebook, you can request to be another user’s “friend”. If a user has set their account privacy to ‘Friends’ then only people they accept as friends will be able to see their WishList(s).
Yes! Also, all the WishLists under your profile will have the same privacy setting. Click the pencil icon under your profile picture, then select “Edit Profile Info”, then select the privacy you want:
- Public – anyone can see your profile and its WishLists
- Friends – only your friends can see your profile and its WishLists (once you accept their friend request)
- With Link – only people to whom you send the link can see your profile and its WishLists. Your profile won’t show up in any search results.
- Private – only you can see your profile, and its WishLists (no one else)
You can determine who can see your profile for every profile you create.
Click your ‘Account’ button (top right) and then scroll down to ‘My Account’. You will see your account settings. Click ‘edit’ email. Note: you must be logged in to your account.
Go to your WishList, and click the ‘social links’ button right below your profile picture. Type in the link name (i.e. Instagram), add your link ur. You can add as many links as you want by clicking add row. Links to your social media, with its icon, will show under your profile picture.
To delete a profile, you need to have more than one profile.
To delete your profile, click the Profile icon in your WishList header, then click that profile’s pencil edit icon and select Edit Profile, then select Delete at the bottom of the edit page. Deleting a profile deletes all WishLists and all Wishes under that profile! Deleting anything on WishList.com is permanent, so be really careful!
Purchasing Gifts
WishList does not sell any products of our own. When a gift is purchased, the purchase is made on the website where the gift is sold.
There are two ways to give a gift to a recipient:
- Send the gift directly to them. The user you are buying the gift for may have opted to share their shipping information as part of their WishList profile, or you probably already know the recipient’s address.
- Send the gift to yourself and give it to them directly.
Make sure to reserve the item you are buying off a WishList so the recipient doesn’t receive duplicate gifts.
WishList.com doesn’t sell any products directly. When a gift is purchased, the purchase is made on the website where the gift is sold. You’ll have to contact that retailer directly.
You reserve a gift off someone’s WishList prior to buying it to make sure the recipient doesn’t get duplicate gifts. After clicking the reserve button, you’ll be able to buy the gift. You’ll also get an email with information about the gift and your reservation.
You can always undo or change a previous reservation you made.
Receiving Gifts
WishList.com doesn’t sell any products directly. When a gift is purchased, the purchase is made on the website where the gift is sold.
There are 2 ways for a user to give a gift to you:
- They send the gift directly to you. You have the option to share your shipping information with your friends as part of your WishList profile, or they probably already know your address.
- They send it to themself and give it to you directly.
When you’re creating or editing a WishList, you can add your delivery address in the WishList’s address fields (optional). Your delivery address will only appear when someone reserves a gift for you. They’ll see a confirmation with a checkbox: “Confirm you’ll use this address for delivery.”
You can also set the privacy of your delivery address to ‘Private (hidden)’ or ‘Friends’, so only people that are your friends on WishList will be able to see the address.
But, if you don’t want people to see the checkbox “Confirm you’ll use this address for delivery.”, you can leave the WishList address fields empty and put your address in the WishList’s “Thank you message and instructions” section with any instructions you may have.
Because WishList.com does not sell any products of our own, gift buyers will need to know your address if you want items sent to you directly. The good news is that most of your friends already know your address. If you want to hide your address you can edit your WishList and change the address privacy to ‘Private (hidden)’ or ‘Friends’ so only people that are your friends on WishList will be able to see the address.
In rare cases, some people want to remain anonymous and still receive gifts. Some use virtual and real post office boxes for this.
Surprise! When someone buys a gift for you from your WishList, it stays hidden so you won’t know what it is until you open it.
You can see the gifts that have been purchased, but only if you click the “Open Gift” icon under a wish. You can receive an email when a gift is purchased, but only if you turn that on in your Account’s Messaging Preferences.
Be sure to view your WishList by logging into your WishList. Don’t look up your WishList as a gifter buying a gift – Don’t use the “Find Someone” link in the top menu. That’s for gifters to find your WishList and clearly marks gifts that are already Received to avoid duplicates.
